Discipline, leadership, and character built through our uniformed groups, house system, and publications.
The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps was re-established in 1979 to develop college and university students into a secondary defence force supporting the armed services in protecting national sovereignty. Cadets take part in institutional events, contribute to social and developmental initiatives, volunteer at national and international functions, and assist in maintaining discipline.
All cadets receive free preliminary military training on a voluntary basis. High-performing cadets travel domestically and internationally on state-sponsored visits, and exceptional cadets may be selected for officer commissions in the armed forces. At BAFSK, students in Classes 7, 9 and 11 can join the BNCC Air Unit.
Air Scout was established in 1977 under the supervision of the Bangladesh Air Force. Its members help maintain discipline at important government and non-government events, participate in rallies promoting national and international observances, and engage in programmes coordinated by the health and education ministries.
At BAFSK, Air Scout operates through four units serving students from Classes 6 to 10, with around 150 members. These units play a vital role in organising college events and celebrating national and international days.
Girls Guiding is an international, non-political youth movement focused on education and social service. It aims to develop character, health and humanitarian qualities while preparing young women to become ideal citizens.
At BAFSK, the Girls Guide programme runs among female students from Class 6 through Class 10, with around 50 members, and plays an important role in organising and conducting various college events smoothly.
The college operates a house system designed to foster unity among students and teachers while promoting academic and creative excellence — encouraging teamwork, efficiency, and healthy competition alongside studies.
Every student and staff member belongs to one of five houses:
Competition spans sports, cultural events, general knowledge, quizzes, debates and PT parades. Points accumulate through the year, and champion and runner-up houses are selected annually.
BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola publishes an annual college magazine, Probaho, to promote literary and cultural activities. Students from primary through higher secondary classes, along with teachers, contribute stories, poems, essays, drawings, travel narratives and personal experiences. The magazine also features the college's annual programmes, achievements, academic and co-curricular activities, results and class photographs.
