BAF Shaheen College, Kurmitola (BAFSK) runs under the direct supervision and able leadership of the Bangladesh Air Force, under the Ministry of Education and the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Dhaka.
It is an ideal non-residential educational institution with a pleasant environment. Students get the opportunity to study here with endless vitality, remaining away from the hustle and bustle of the city — its dust, smoke and suffocating environment. Managed by the efficient board of directors of the Bangladesh Air Force, together with an experienced principal, efficient teachers and office staff working relentlessly for the betterment of the students, BAFSK is today a well-reputed co-education school & college in the Dhaka area.
BAFSK was established as Air Force School in 1972 and was renamed BAF Shaheen School in 1980. It was upgraded to College level in 1982 and renamed BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola (BAFSK). The English Version started its journey in 2010, initially up to Class V, and was later upgraded up to Class X in 2015. In 2019, a new college building was constructed and the College Section started its function, including the English Version (EV), from the same year.
At present, the institution has a total enrollment of 10,531 students. Of these, 8,015 students are enrolled in the school section and 2,516 in the college section. Within the college section, 2,269 students are in the Bangla Version (BV) and 247 in the English Version (EV), studying across Science (1,737), Business Studies (434) and Humanities (343). In the school section, 6,198 students are in the Bangla Version (BV) and 1,814 in the English Version (EV), with 5,976 in the morning shift and 2,034 in the day shift.
