BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola

History:

BAF Shaheen College, Kurmitola (BAFSK) runs under the direct supervision and able leadership of the Bangladesh Air Force under the Ministry of Education of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Dhaka. It is an ideal non-residential educational institution having pleasant environment. The students get the opportunity to study here with endless vitality remaining away from the hustle and bustle of the city like dust, smoke and suffocating environment. This Institution is managed by the efficient board of directors of the Bangladesh Air Force. Besides, experienced principal, efficient teachers and office staffs are also working relentlessly for the betterment of the students and the college. Now BAFSK is a well reputed co-education school & college in Dhaka area.

BAFSK was established as Air Force School in 1972 and was renamed as BAF Shaheen School in 1980. It was upgraded to College level in 1982 and was renamed as BAF Shaheen College Kurmitola (BAFSK). The English Version started its journey in 2010 initially upto class V. Later in 2015 it was upgraded upto Class X. In 2019, a new college building was constructed and the College Section started its function including English Version (EV) from the same year. The number of the students of the college is about 7255 out of which 6286 students are from Bengali Version(BV) and rest 969 are from English Version (EV). 

Admission Procedure:

In the beginning of each academic session about 315 students are admitted in 7 sections of KG class in Bangla Version. In addition, 90 students are admitted in 02 sections of class One in English Version. In other classes new students are admitted through advertisement and admission tests. It may be mentioned that in this college preference is given for the children of BAF Personnel. Beside this admission in XI classes are also done as per the rules and regulations of Board of intermediate and secondary Education, Dhaka.

ইতিহাস ঃ

বিএএফ শাহীন কলেজ কুর্মিটোলা বাংলাদেশ বিমান বাহিনীর নেতৃত্বে ও প্রত্যক্ষ তত্তাবধানে পরিচালিত শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের শিক্ষা মন্ত্রনালয়ের অধীনে মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চমাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা বোর্ড, ঢাকার আওতাধীন একটি আদর্শ অনাবাসিক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসাবে এখানে রয়েছে এক আনন্দদায়ক পরিবেশ। এখানে শিক্ষার্থীরা সীমাহীন জীবনীশক্তিসহ পড়ালেখার সুযোগ লাভ করে যা নগরীর কোলাহল, ধুলি-ধোঁয়া ও শাসরুদ্ধকর পরিবেশ থেকে দূরে। বাংলাদেশ বিমান বাহিনীর সুদক্ষ পরিচালনা পরিষদ কতৃক অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিচালিত হয়। এই শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে রয়েছে অভিজ্ঞ অধ্যক্ষ, দক্ষ শিক্ষক শিক্ষকা এবং অফিস কর্মকর্তা কর্মচারী,যারা কলেজ ও শিক্ষাথীদের উন্নয়নের জন্য নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। বর্তমানে বি এ এফ শাহীন কলেজ কুর্মিটোলা, ঢাকা অঞ্চলের একটি স্বনামধন্য স্কুল ও কলেজ হিসেবে ব্যাপক পরিচিত।

১৯৭২ সালে ‘এয়ার ফোর্স স্কুল’ নামে বি এ এফ শাহীন কলেজ কুর্মিটোলা’ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল এবং ১৯৮০ সালে এটি ‘বি এ এফ শাহীন স্কুল’ নামে  পুনঃ নামাঙ্কিত হয়। ১৯৮২ সালে এটি কলেজ পর্যায়ে উন্নীত হয় এবং বি এ এফ শাহীন কলেজ কুর্মিটোলা নামে পুনঃ নামাঙ্কিত হয়। বাংলা ভার্সনের পাশাপাশি ইংরেজী ভার্সনের যাত্রা শুরু ২০১০ সালে প্রাথমিকভাবে পঞ্চম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত। পরবর্তীতে ২০১৫ সালে এটি ১০ম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত উন্নীত হয়। ২০১৯ সালে একটি নতুন কলেজ ভবন নির্মাণ করা হয় এবং ঐ একই বছরে বাংলা ভার্সনের পাশাপাশি ইংরেজী ভার্সনসহ কলেজ শাখা উক্ত ভবনে তার কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। কলেজের শিক্ষার্থী সংখ্যা প্রায় ৭২৫৫ যার মধ্যে ৬২৮৬ জন বাংলা ভার্সনের শিক্ষার্থী এবং অবশিষ্ট ৯৬৯ জন শিক্ষার্থী ইংরেজী ভার্সনের।

ভর্তি প্রক্রিয়া ঃ

প্রত্যেক শিক্ষাবর্ষের প্রারম্ভে বাংলা ভার্সনের কেজি শ্রেণির ৭টি শাখায় ৩১৫ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়। পাশাপাশি ইংরেজী ভার্সনের ১ম শ্রেণিতে ০২টি শাখায় ৯০ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়। অন্যদিকে অন্যান্য শ্রেণিতে ভর্তির ব্যাপারে বিজ্ঞাপন অনুযায়ী ভর্তি পরীক্ষার মধ্য দিয়ে নতুন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়। উল্লেখ্য, বাংলাদেশ বিমান বাহিনীতে কর্মরত সদস্যবৃন্দের সন্তান-সন্ততিকে এক্ষেত্রে প্রাধান্য দেয়া হয়ে থাকে। এছাড়াও মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা বোর্ড ঢাকা এর নিয়ম এবং নীতিমালার আলোকে অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠানে একাদশ শ্রেণির ভর্তি কার্যক্রম সম্পন্ন করা হয়।
